Interdisciplinary scholar informed by decolonial practice.
I teach in the social sciences with a focus on clear communication, inclusive learning, and strong student support. I am an active champion for accessible learning – my pedagogical influences include a committed adherence to the Universal Design for Learning Guidelines (available here) and bell hooks' reflections on the purpose of education (hooks' 'Teaching to Transgress' introduction is linked here). I believe the classroom should be a space for critical discussion and rigorous debate where students feel able to question, engage, and challenge ideas from any perspective. Learning is an ongoing process for both educator and student, and I approach it with openness and respect.
My research approach is community-oriented and grounded in care.
Speaking
I research and deliver talks on advocacy and social impact; critical scholarship on race and society; diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; and, AI ethics - the future will be powered by AI - augmented intelligence.
